Taking care of bad breath



When was the last time you changed your toothbrush? Or paid a visit to the dentist? Bad breath is as bad as it sounds. It makes you self-conscious when talking in public- that's for those who are aware they have it. But what about those who do not know they have it?

If you or anyone you know is troubled by bad breath, read on to find simple ways to do away with it completely.
Let’s look at some of the causes;

a)    Foods you eat: onions, garlic, coffee. 
b)    Gum disease
c)    Improper oral hygiene

What can be done?

1.    Detoxify: If your gut ( the digestive tract especially the intestine or stomach) isn’t healthy or clean no matter how well you brush, your mouth would still smell. Cleanse your system with fruits or food supplements meant for detoxification, to get rid of the toxins responsible for the odor.

2.    Proper Oral Hygiene: Maintain a good oral hygiene by brushing at least twice daily. Clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner, there are lots of bacteria living on the tongue. If you can't get a good tongue scraper- made of stainless steel, brush your tongue properly.

Get a mouthwash too, for days when you are too tired to brush at night.

3.    Keep your gums healthy. Eat fruits rich in vitamin C and foods high in calcium. Moisten your mouth by drinking plenty of water. Visit the dentist at least twice a year and don't forget to change your toothbrush regularly at least 3 months.
